Paths of Remembrance

[7] "... Dagmar Pachtner´s concept is clear, strict and simple in it’s artistic language, but rich and multifaceted in it’s relationship to the place, the area, to the theme and to the viewer. She takes the form from the fundamental aesthetic language of minimalism. Her double wall contains motives and associations, but doesn´t translate these directly into pictures, but lets them speak at a more cryptic, thoughtful level. The wall as an element, one of the most pragmatic basic building blocks in the history of mankind, can separate or protect, encase or, as here, build a structure. It draws two clear lines joining the past with the present. The wall´s resonance with the motive of the memorial wall or Wailing Wall elicits stronger emotions and connections than the use of mere illustrations could do."

Stefanie Endlich. Quoted from the opening and dedication speech on June 8th 2010.
