Deggendorf Polytechnic

[4] Material carries with it a particular personal meaning, for example granite's is of prehistoric rock, it has the character of permanence. Because of its use as a building material, it also acts as a traditional bridge back to the antiquity. Granite is not used as a material just to be worked, but as material fully charged with meaning and the starting point for an artistic discussion. Therefore, the stone was monolithically split and laid on two steel beams. The lifting off the ground and also, at dusk, the blue incorporeal light subtract the weight from the immensely heavy stone block and give it's intrinsic meaning a new direction.

The doors and the granite sculpture are positioned at roughly 3 degrees from the building axis. They build a symbolic bridge to the entrance area and lead one on and towards the building.
